The GI lab project, located on the first floor level of the hospital, represents an expansion of the hospital’s growing GI services.
The scope of the project includes four procedure rooms, 10 prep and recovery rooms, scope processing and other ancillary components.
All four procedure rooms are designed as negative pressure rooms and accommodate anesthesia. Two of the rooms are oversized to accommodate ultrasound procedures as well.
In patients and outpatients are successfully segregated by providing separate entrances for each. Families are accommodated in a dedicated, private waiting area along with recovery rooms large enough to allow family participation during recovery.
The interiors design concept is based upon a Spa-like environment. Modularts decorative drywall, custom 3form panels, luxury vinyl tile and Xorel heavy duty wallcovering all helped establish the GI lab as one of the higher designed departments on the Southeast Hospital main campus. Deep chocolate brown wenge woods mix with honey maples to create a play on light and dark. A blend of blues, greens and copper tones found in paints, lighting, upholstery and cubicle curtains make the space appealing to all patient types.
The project was constructed in two primary phases, allowing continued operation of GI services during the construction time frame
