Southeast Health
Cancer Center
The new Southeast Cancer Center for Southeast Hospital’s dynamic, curved, glazed exterior offers a glimpse of the technology and modern medicine offered within. Included in the technology are radiation therapies, C/T Simulation, HDR, infusion therapy, medical oncology, and full lab and pharmacy ancillary services.
Planning was centered on stage and off-stage segregation between public/patient and staff/physician work centers – in support of a calming and reduced stress experience for patients and their families. Atop the three accelerator vaults is an intensive green roof, with views of the roof from the infusion bays, offices, and staff areas.
The interiors create two distinct atmospheres between public lobby spaces and private clinic spaces. Deep chocolate browns on a background of cool blues, warm creams, and reclaimed redwood siding come to life in the sunlight-filled public lobbies. Multiple wood tones, muted browns, bronzed greens, and tangerines bring a sense of lightness to the internal clinical spaces and glow in the additional sunlight-filled areas of the infusion bays.
